As the global energy market continues to spin out of control, its nice to see what some companies can do to actually lower the cost of production, rather than increasing it.
In the USA, CTI was called upon by electric utilities AES, Cleco, Dominion, Entergy, Exelon Nuclear, Keyspan, Minnesota Power, Mirant and PSE&G. Shields, Liners, tube cleaning equipment and brushes, inspections…it’s not what you can do for us, but what CTI can do for you. |

South of the border, another Shield job was performed for CFE in Mexico after our initial installation in 2006, while up North, Chevron Canada discovered that CTI Liners can last longer than the original tubes! Also, 12,000 Shields – 6” long – were installed for Ontario Power into main condenser tubes that are 62’ long. How many millions of dollars did the customer save on this one??!! 
Continuing the trend of increased reliability for Fin-Fan Coolers, BP, Chevron (Canada and U.S.A.), ExxonMobil and Hovensa had CTI “sleeve” both new and old units. CTI Shields and Full Length Tube Liners™ were installed using an assortment of material – 304SS, Monel, C-276 and Titanium. The process and existing tube material are the key factors in selecting the proper sleeve material.
Other U.S. oil companies using CTI’s restoration systems in 2007 included Conoco Phillips, Houston Refining and United Refining.
Chemical companies Celanese, Eastman and Lyondell also realized CTI’s cost-effective restoration systems, installing Shields into a few damaged exchangers. |

The U.S. Navy contracted CTI to install Shields in condensers on board the USS Kearsarge and USS Bataan. Horizon Lines continued their program to “Remove and Replace” existing Shields in condensers while LMS Shipmanagement had CTI install over 9,000 Shields on one of their ships while anchored in Singapore.
OEM’s use of CTI Shields keeps increasing, as do installations into new tubes. Dunn, GEA Rainey, HAMMCO, Ohmstede, Sisterville Tankworks and TEI-Struthers are just a few of the fab shops CTI worked with last year – with orders for us to return in 2008!

A number of exciting opportunities presented themselves, leading with over 12,000 Shields installed in a steam condenser at a paper mill in Holland. Norske Skog realized the large money savings of Shields vs. retubing – even after having to install Shields in both the inlet and outlet tube ends. Good work, Andre!
Based on a test installation of 2,000 Shields in 2006, CTI/PAIE performed 3 jobs totaling over 12,000 Shields for Karachi Electric this past year. The Jazman of Pakistan returns! |
LG Chemical—Korea, one of the largest chemical companies in the world, carried out another exchanger repair using C-276 Shields. Nice one, H.R.
A return to Germany was made after another successful test installation led to more condenser tube Shields at Vattenfall. Good job by Herbert and the gang at Hydratight.
The largest Methane company in the world – Methanex – asked CTI to pay a visit to New Zealand in order to install 564 Liners in a small condenser. Good as Gold! |

Two (2) more large orders were placed with CTI for C-276 Liners into Fin-Fan units. ExxonMobil—Italy will have over 1220 Liners installed into existing units in the 1st Quarter 2008, while Tonen-Wakayama has scheduled October 2008 for their installation. As the price of oil goes up, so does the need for increased reliability.
Other notable international repairs were achieved for ADP (Portugal), Coogee Electric (Australia), ESSO (Thailand), G.E. Plastics (Spain), INEOS (France), PDVSA and Sincor (Venezuela), PT. Kaltim (Indonesia) and Yara (Trinidad).
CTI Gulf traveled to over 14 countries last year, including visits to Angola and the Congo.
A return was made to South Africa to visit our old friends at ESKOM - to a place called Nigel in Guateng province - in order to repair 12 HP Feedwater Heaters at the Komati Power Plant. |

In July, GSI (Gas Services International), who operate gas gathering stations in remote parts of the world, called upon CTI Gulf to install 390 Full Length Tube Liners - over 50ft. long!
Multiple trips were made to Oman for Shield installations into various units at Sohar Refinery and also to Saudi Arabia for Aramco (Lubref and Yanpet).
Marine clients were visited in Angola, Bahrain, the Congo, Qatar, Singapore and Spain where inspections, tube cleaning (jet brush and water drill) and various tube repairs took place.
